Slash CD and Tour In Spring
Slash had this news for his Twitter followers: “Driving around listening to the analog mixes of my solo record, I gotta say it sounds awesome. The whole self-titled record was recorded analog. It will be released March/April.
Slash Finishes Recording His Solo CD
The solo album from former Guns N’ Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitar legend Slash is almost complete, with the final songs being mixed as Slash gears up for a benefit show later this month.
He updated his Myspace with the following: We’re a little more than 2 weeks away from the LAYN “Slash & friends” fundraiser, Nov 22nd at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood Ca. George Lopez is hosting an indulgent night of Rock & Roll with special guests, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Perry Farrell, Chester Bennington, Andrew Stockdale, Franky Perez, Dave Navarro, Travis Barker, Chris Chaney & myself. The set is going to be killer & the whole event is supporting an awesome cause. Remaining tickets are available at: Its going to be one for the books for sure.
The tracking for my record is completely done & we only have 3 songs left to mix. I’m extremely happy about how the whole thing turned out, I think you’re going to dig it. Also, there is a single dropping in Japan this month that I did recorded with Koshi Inaba from the B’z. The song is called “Sahara” & is only available for sale in Japan & won’t be on the domestic release of the cd. There is a surprise B-Side you gotta check out.
Duff Talks Chinese Democracy
Duff McKagan is currently supporting his solo band Loaded and took some time to speak with AskMen.com about their latest album, “Sick,” his bandmates and their influences and he answered the obligatory Guns N’ Roses question as well. A couple of the questions and answers are below: AskMen.com: Sick sounds amazing and I think reflective of some of your earlier influences, but it’s a departure from your days with Guns and Velvet Revolver. What would you say to fans of your more well-known work who are interested in picking this album up? Duff: I think Loaded is its own standalone band and I think a really good band, from my experience, is the greatest sum of all of its parts. Every guy brought something to the table and we took the best of those parts and made it a whole.
Same thing with Velvet Revolver; you still had Slash and I, you had those elements, but you got Scott Weiland in there and Matt [Sorum] as a songwriter and even Dave Kushner — you take the best parts of them. With Loaded, we’ve always been sort of left of center; we’re not a straight-up commercial rock band. People are saying it’s [Sick] more punk rock, but punk rock to me was something that I experienced and I played in a lot of punk rock bands, but that was a long, long time ago. I’m certainly not going back; I’m not harkening back to those times. AskMen.com: What do you think of Chinese Democracy? Duff: It’s funny; so many people have asked me that question and I gotta figure out why people think my opinion matters.[And then, our call dropped.] Sorry about that. I didn’t want you to think I hung up because of the question (laughs). Perfect timing. I think Axl did a great job on that record and other than that, the songs and the band are a completely different thing, so for me to really comment on the band, I might as well be commenting on the new Slipknot record.
It’s that far removed from me. We [Guns] made our last record in ’92 or ’93 or something — that was 16 years ago. That was a lifetime ago for me. I was still using and stuff back then. So, that’s how long ago it was for me. It’s great [Chinese Democracy]. There are songs on it that I like and there are songs on it that I don’t like, just like any other record.

SLASH – One More Song Left To Record For Solo Album
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist SLASH says that he has one final song to record for his anxiously-awaited solo album. “This song is really cool and the singer is amazing,” he adds.
Slash will release a two-track CD single in Japan on November 11th via Universal Music containing the song ‘Sahara’ (featuring singer Koshi Inaba from B’Z) and a cover of the Guns N’ Roses classic ‘Paradise City’ featuring CYPRESS HILL and Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson from the BLACK EYED PEAS.
‘Sahara’ is expected to appear on Slash’s new solo album – called Slash & Friends – which is due for release in February/March according to a new Twitter update from the guitarist.
Slash has been recording his new solo album with producer Eric Valentine in Los Angeles with drummer Josh Freese (A PERFECT CIRCLE) and bassist Chris Chaney (ex-JANES ADDICTION).
The album is set to feature a number of guest musicians, including ALICE COOPER, former Guns N’ Roses men Duff McKagan (LOADED), Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin, Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS), Flea (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), IGGY POP, NICK OLIVERI, RONNIE WOOD, JASON BONHAM, FERGIE and MAROON 5 singer Adam Levine and WOLFMOTHER’s Andrew Stockdale.
Slash and Friends Details
Slash took to his Myspace page to update fans again this week. Aside from an update about his solo album, this time he gives details about the upcoming Slash and Friend Event at the Mirage in Las Vegas, where he was asked to perform to mark the 20th anniversary of the hotel and casino.
Here is what he had to say about that: “there are a lot of posts about the upcoming Vegas event, but the actual line-up for the Mirage gig Oct 2nd is: Tommy Clufetos on drums, Johnny Griparic on bass, Ted “Zig Zag” Andreadis on keys, John 5 on guitar, myself on guitar & Franky Perez, vocals. That, is basically the house band, my special guests that night are, more or less in this order: Rocco Deluca, Nicole Scherzinger, Courtney Love, Rick Nielson, Robin Zander & Joe Perry. Also, Matt Sorum is jamming a couple songs + there will be some other surprises.
“I also just got confirmation that the Joe Perry Project is playing as well, it promises to be a bitchin’ evening. tickets are available through Mirage Entertainment on the Mirage website.
“And, there is another gig I’m putting together for November 22nd for LA Youth Network or “LAYN” at the Henry Fonda Theater, I’ll have line-up details for that event, which is a fund raiser & an awesome cause, soon enough.
“Meanwhile, the solo record is in its mixing stage & the mixes to this point sound great. We have recorded 18 songs with one more I want to track in the next couple weeks. Regardless, the record is still slated for a Feb/March release.
Btw, a friend of mine hipped me to a wikkipedia site that focuses on the development of this album, the details of which are actually pretty accurate, although almost all of the alleged song titles are incorrect. Also, Jason Bonham does not appear on this album. Other than that its pretty right on.
