The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour

Orange Amplification has announced The Classic Rock Roll of Honour 2012. This annual star-studded awards ceremony celebrates the world’s greatest rock icons, performers, musicians and songwriters. It will be held at The Roundhouse, Camden, London on the 13th November 2012 with rock legend and Orange endorsee Duff McKagan hosting the evening.

Managing Director, Damon Waller, commenting said: “This is our second year as the headline sponsor and our partnership with the awards reflects our long association with supplying amps to the biggest bands in Classic Rock for over forty years.”

The Living Legend Award, which is also sponsored by Orange, is only ever awarded to those artists who have truly cemented their place in the rock hall of fame. Previous winners include Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and this year it has been awarded to ZZ Top who, with a career spanning over forty years, have sold more than fifty million albums and continue to sell out arena tours around the world. ZZ Top is also nominated for the Band Of The Year award.

Orange Amplification endorsees, Phantom Limb, Tracer and Ghost are nominated for Best New Band. Other Orange endorsees nominated include Mastodon in the Album Of The Year category and rock legends Rush in the Album Of The Year and Band Of The Year categories.

Booze saved Zakk’s life

Zakk Wylde has explained in typical larger-than-life style how heavy drinking saved his life after he developed killer blood clots in his legs during the summer. And although he wanted the news to mean he could keep indulging, his wife made him see sense.

Wylde, who recently said his sacking by Ozzy Osbourne was water under the bridge, is preparing to start work on a new Black Label Society album. He says he sees a positive side to the end of his drinking days.

He tells I Heart Guitar: “We were out on the road with Mudvayne and Static-X and we were having a blast on that thing.

Weezer singer hurt in bus crash

Glen, New York (CNN) — The lead singer of the rock band Weezer was involved in a bus accident Sunday that left him and another passenger in an upstate New York hospital.

Rivers Cuomo, 40, complained of rib pain and was transferred, along with one other passenger, to St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, New York.

Cuomo’s wife, daughter, and a fifth passenger on the bus were uninjured. The bus was traveling from Toronto, Ontario, to Boston, Massachusetts, for a show Monday night at the Agganis Arena at Boston University.

Puddle of Mudd Singer Injured During Radio Interview

Puddle of Mudd’s frontman had a bit of an accident last week. It will keep him away from the press but not from the fans as they release a new effort this week. Here is the official word: “I was kind of hoping it was more serious than it is,” says Wes Scantlin about injuring his right foot’s fifth metatarsal bone while in New York City on Monday. “I was told this type of fracture is seen a lot in athlete’s – I fractured mine simply hopping off a stool after our appearance on the radio show Rockline.”

Blaze Bayley attacked in Greece

The Blaze Bayley band were attacked on a street in Greece during their current tour, frontman Bayley has reported.

Two men, whom Bayley says were clearly on drugs, nearly ran down one of the band’s entourage after their show in Agrinio, then followed the tour van and threw a brick through one of its windows,

In his tour blog Bayley reports: “Agrinio was crazy – a really intimate packed-out gig with plenty of crazy fans and the odd crowd-surfer.

“After the fantastic gig we stopped on the way back to the hotel at a late-night pie shop. I was talking to support act Fury UK’s manager when two drugged-up youths on a scooter drove towards him.
